A Beautiful End

First, thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers. Unfortunately we didn't make it in time to see Dh's grandfather before he passed. However, we did spend about 5 hours with him the night before. I am so glad we got to spend that time with him. He was so much like his old self during that time. He was joking and laughing and enjoying a bowl of ice cream (savoring every morsel is what he said.) He passed away at 9:20 a.m. on April 1st. We got there around 10:00. We did get to spend some time with him before the funeral home came and took him away. We were told that he got the most amazing look of peace on his face when he passed. The viewing will be on Thursday and the funeral will be on Friday. We are also still going forward with Dh's birthday party because his grandfather was adamant that he was coming and even made them order him a wheelchair, so I believe he will be there, but he won't need a wheelchair. We spent the day with Dh's family. His grandmother was doing pretty well although I could tell she was overwhelmed. It turned out to be an absolutely beautiful day. Dh's grandfather loved nature and I believe that Heaven was celebrating because he finally came home.
